Themes in Conceptual Film

Thematic Interests

I am very much interested in exploring and learning more about the thematic ideas of social order and politics when it comes to fantasy and science fiction realms. I want to explore these ideas as I feel like with a world that is fantasy or sci-fi based has less limitations when it comes to the number of potential social hierarchies and structures that could come out of them compared to a world based heavily into the realm of reality.

To be slightly more specific, I would like to experiment with how a corrupt ruler can play out similarly and differently in both a sci-fi and fantasy setting. I feel that it would interesting to explore how the civilian population of a corrupt city would react and rebel against a corrupt leader. Going deeper, I would like to see how both time periods (both past and future) would get, receive, and react to the information pertaining the corrupt ruler. I also would like to investigate how both of these time periods and settings would artistically rebel with posters and propaganda to their corrupt rulers.

Pertaining exclusively to the sci-fi/futuristic realm, I would also like to explore how a combination of art and futuristic technology could combine to create an example prototype of what a city of tomorrow could look like. Continuing the theme of nature and society, I would also like to explore how a fantasy realm with a slight hint of futuristic technology could interact with the nature preexisting in the world.

I am also interested in exploring how a city of tomorrow can be built using today's materials and knowledge. For example, this idea is sort of like how Walt Disney had a plan for what he called the Experimental Prototype for a Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT) back in 1966.

In short, the themes and ideas that I am interested in exploring is social order and politics in science fiction and fantasy realm with a further delve into what could spawn from a correct ruler in both of these settings.
