Themes in Conceptual Film

Thematic Interests

I am very much interested in exploring and learning more about the thematic ideas of social order and politics when it comes to fantasy and science fiction realms. I want to explore these ideas as I feel like with a world that is fantasy or sci-fi based has less limitations when it comes to the number of potential social hierarchies and structures that could come out of them compared to a world based heavily into the realm of reality.

To be slightly more specific, I would like to experiment with how a corrupt ruler can play out similarly and differently in both a sci-fi and fantasy setting. I feel that it would interesting to explore how the civilian population of a corrupt city would react and rebel against a corrupt leader. Going deeper, I would like to see how both time periods (both past and future) would get, receive, and react to the information pertaining the corrupt ruler. I also would like to investigate how both of these time periods and settings would artistically rebel with posters and propaganda to their corrupt rulers.

Pertaining exclusively to the sci-fi/futuristic realm, I would also like to explore how a combination of art and futuristic technology could combine to create an example prototype of what a city of tomorrow could look like. Continuing the theme of nature and society, I would also like to explore how a fantasy realm with a slight hint of futuristic technology could interact with the nature preexisting in the world.

I am also interested in exploring how a city of tomorrow can be built using today's materials and knowledge. For example, this idea is sort of like how Walt Disney had a plan for what he called the Experimental Prototype for a Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT) back in 1966.

In short, the themes and ideas that I am interested in exploring is social order and politics in science fiction and fantasy realm with a further delve into what could spawn from a correct ruler in both of these settings.

Rainbow Road: A Musical Journey

After around a month and a half of work, my latest, and final, animation for this year is done.

Based off of one of my favorite songs, Rainbow Road: A Musical Journey is truly journey for both the eyes and the ears.

The animation took two days, split between two computers, to render out all 10,000 of its frames. The reason why the frame count was so high for a 3 minute video is the fact that each second, we are sending 60 images to you monitor, resulting in a buttery smooth 60 fps video.

This animation had me put a ton of my heart into it, sadly I feel that little things could make it better. Some items on that list includes

  • The textures are very basic (though that is how I tend to texture my models)
  • At some points, the action is a bit dull
  • The lighting could use some reworking, especially when the spaceship is in space
I would like to give a personal shout out to all of my friends who watched this project grow and develop, their support made this all possible!

Binary Bit

You binary bit! This is a quick little reference to my upcoming video game codenamed Ninjio... A quick little encounter with the most gentlemanly villain you can ever encounter.

Overall I think I could improve upon the lip syncing of the characters and perhaps improve upon the lighting of the room, however the room is supposed to be a dark "lair" that the villain has. Besides from that the rest of the project went fairly well!

Play of the Game- An Overwatch Animation

45 seconds of pure geekiness. This animation stars one of my favorite Chinese video game characters, Mei(美灵). Her cool nature is often hated by players of the game she stars in, Overwatch.

Overall, this animation went well. One of my main goals was to get the intro and sound lined up (not kidding, that took a good amount of editing time). I think that I could had spent more time working on the intro, where she slides around on the floor, but I was pressed for time and had redid it many times.

Remember, as Mei always says: Our world is worth fighting for!
